An Outreach Carried out in Mubende.

Yesterday 22/03/2019, Kuchu shiners Uganda generated its first outreach in Mubede district . The outreach comprised of 3 peers,4 medical doctors from Mubende regional referral, the executive director Kuchu Shiners Uganda and members from the Youth Alive Uganda. The outreach was targeted for the sex workers , MSM , other key population members and the general population as whole. We managed to provide services to 86 of the above mentioned categories such as SMC, HIV testing and counseling, STI testing and treatment, family planning services and health sensitization. Being our first time we weren’t able to finish up with the whole outreach programme due to some shortcomings. Thus some peers and medical doctors will be providing services to more people under the key population today afternoon. We faced some challenges such as inadequate medical drugs .There is also need for more outreaches and dialogues for the MSM , transgender, sex workers. The medical personnels and local leaders need more training on how to handle provision of services to the key population. Kuchu Shiners takes this opportunity to thank Youth Alive Uganda and Mubende Regional hospital for working hand in hand during this outreach.
